Okay so unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months, you've definitely heard about Urthbox- the healthy subscription snack box service that delivers non-GMO and organic foods, beverages and snacks to your home or office monthly! Since I'm a total foodie and always on the lookout for my new favourite snack, I was immediately intrigued by Urthbox. The idea of having a variety of new, healthy snacks delivered to my doorstep every month seemed too good to be true! I kept seeing Urthbox endorsed by a variety of b-grade celebs on insta but I didn't know anyone in real life who had actually tried it and I wanted to make sure the box was good before spending my money on it (the large box costs $50 per month and includes roughly 25 snacks)!
About a month ago I saw a promotion for Urthbox online that was too good to pass up- new customers who signed up to the subscription service would be given their first box free, they just had to pay for shipping/handling! I immediately placed my order for the large, vegan box! Don't ask me why I chose vegan. I am in no way, shape or form a vegan and I probably should have opted for the "classic" box instead.
My Urthbox finally arrived and I was WAY too excited to open it up! Unfortunately, the excitement was short-lived. My box included quite a good variety of snacks- everything from gummy candies to popcorn chips and chocolates to protein bars- but most of the items that I enjoyed were ones that I had already tried before AND none of the snacks in my box were very healthy! Yes, they were organic. Yes, they were non-GMO. But they were also full of sugar, sodium and fat!
BOX CONTENTS AND RATINGS
Overall, while it was exciting to have a box full of food delivered to my house, I didn't feel that the box was worth spending $50 (+ $20 for shipping) a month on. Most of the snacks were items that I either didn't enjoy, were too full of sugar to be considered a healthy snack or were performance enhancing products which I'm not into. I'd rather spend my money (likely way less than $50) on healthy, full size versions of the snacks that I love!
