I know that David and I are a little late to the party on this one considering 'Paint Nite' has been a pretty popular date night/event idea for at least the last 2 years, BUT we went for the first time last weekend and we can't say enough positive things about it! If you've been on the fence about giving 'Paint Nite' a try we HIGHLY suggest you give it a go!
You start by choosing the painting you'd like to create on the 'Paint Nite' website. The paintings being offered vary depending on the day and time, and spots in the classes for popular paintings fill up fast. We opted for the Toronto Skyline option because it seemed like the least corny/feminine of all the paintings that were still available.
Our Paint Nite took place downtown at The Marche (a 'win' on its own), in a glass room at the back of the restaurant. Our instructor was warm and friendly and created a fun and relaxed atmosphere. When we arrived we were given an apron, a canvas, a few paints and paintbrushes and the instructor lead us step by step through the process of painting the picture we had selected online! It was awesome to see more than 40 people relaxing, chatting and engaging in creating art. It was also really neat to see more than 40 very different paintings at the end of class, created from the same set of instructions.
While David and I don't know exactly what we're going to do with 2 sub-par paintings of the Toronto skyline yet, we do know that we're definitely going to hit up another 'Paint Nite' event sometime soon!
