When David and I got married we decided to keep the bed that David was already using for three reasons:
1. It matched the other bedroom furniture
2. We liked the idea of saving money
3. We thought a double bed would be big enough for the two of us
Well, we QUICKLY realized that while reasons #1 and #2 may have been valid, #3 was NOT true! ha. David is a VERY light (and poor) sleeper who can be woken up by the smallest sound/movement. I am a REALLY great sleeper, but I have to move around to get comfortable and I can't fall sleep when it's too hot. Well, when you put two adults into a double bed, there's always touching, which means it's ALWAYS hot, and there's always some moving! The result was 2 people who couldn't sleep....and many nights spent on the floor for me!
This summer we LOVED making trips to the cottage on the weekends because we'd get to sleep on a KING bed! We always commented on how well we slept when we weren't right up against each other and boiling hot. In August we decided to bite the bullet and go mattress shopping. Before going, David made it clear that we would NOT be purchasing a mattress that night. But have you ever been mattress shopping?!? It's pretty much the BEST thing ever!! They give you an incredible pillow and take you from mattress to mattress to test out the different materials, firmnesses, sizes etc. After testing out like every bed in the store (lol), we ended up putting a down payment on a really amazing king mattress (and we even scored it at a really great "back to school" price!)!! We were ECSTATIC!!
WELL....our mattress has FINALLY ARRIVED! The delivery boys were able to get it into our bedroom (MAJOR RELIEF) and it fit comfortably into our bedroom without having to remove one of our night stands (ANOTHER MAJOR RELIEF)!
Cheers to many many many great sleeps!
