I like new clothes. I like new people. I like new homes. I like trying new foods. I like new seasons. I like new countries. I like new opportunities, new books/podcasts, new experiences, and new jobs. ‘New’ can be so exciting! But sometimes too much ‘new’ all at once can feel overwhelming. For David and I, this Summer/Fall has been full of many great, new things. In the span of a couple weeks we bought a new house, I got a new job (full time permanent contract- WOOT WOOT!), we kicked off a new year of church programming, we watched as my siblings entered new phases of life (John is working full full time, Robert is back at McMaster and Madi is entering 4th year) and we settled into our 'new' post-summer lives!

While I’m not complaining- all of the ‘new’ in my life is positive- I would be lying if I said that there haven’t been moments in the last couple of months where I’ve felt completely in over my head! In those moments I've turned to the words found in Psalm 62:2: "He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken".  I’m thankful for the rock that I have in Jesus Christ. I’m thankful that in this ever-changing, always ‘new’ life, He is constant. I'm thankful that He cares about me and that I can turn to Him when I feel overwhelmed.

Since it's the end of September, everything that felt so 'new' a month ago feels pretty 'normal' now. As a result, I thought now would be the perfect time to set some new goals for myself.  One of them is to blog at least a few times a week. I want to say a huge thank-you to everyone who texted/messaged/spoke to me this past month and encouraged me to get the blog going again! Blogging is something I love to do and your support means a lot!

Here are the other goals on my list:
1. Get my butt to the gym at least 3 times a week!
2. Waste less food!
3. Invite our neighbours over for dinner before Christmas hits!
4. Do a dinner devotional with David instead of a before-bed devotional (...ha because I've dozed off half way through our devotions a few too many times)!
5. Adopt a no-added-sugar-during-the-week lifestyle!
