25 years ago today John entered the world....and on that day, 25 years ago, I wasn't really sure how I felt about him! In most (read: ALL) of the home videos of John’s first few months I can be seen either sitting on John so that most of his body couldn't be seen by the camera or pushing him over to remove him from the shot completely! I’m told that I didn’t HATE him entirely… but he definitely wasn't on my list of "Top Favourite People"! ;) Well I’m happy to report that over the past 25 years my love for John has grown (...and grown and grown). I'm so proud to be his sister and I now love sharing the limelight with him (most of the time) ;).
John you are an INCREDIBLE person...the TOTAL package! Smart, funny, hardworking, sweet, handsome, talented, an amazing brother and a loyal friend. I love the way that you love people deeply. I love that you go after your goals with your whole heart and mind. I love that you have a desire to build community and actually do something about it. I love that you force me to watch The Bachelor every Monday. I love that you think critically and challenge me to do the same. I love that you see the ‘funny’ in life. I love that you leave all the cupboards open and ALL of the lights on in the kitchen…ALL of the time (…..ohhh wait….). I love that you’re actively pursuing a relationship with Jesus Christ.
My prayer for you this year is that as you continue to seek Christ with your whole heart, soul and mind, that you would come to know "how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ" for YOU, John. And that you would be "filled to the measure of all the fulness of God"- totally satisfied- as you learn to really accept that love!
Make 25 your BEST YEAR YET!
I love you TOO much!
I’m so lucky to get to work with some of my best friends! I show up to work at 7:15am JUST so that we can get in a good chat sesh before the kids show up at 8:50am! THAT’S HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM!! Working with friends makes the downs of life bearable and the ups of life even more fun! Case in point? Our Pyjama Christmas Party and Secret Santa (or not so secret, if you’re me!) gift exchange that took place before we left for the Christmas Break!
While I can't say that I was super excited to get back to work this morning, having sweet friends to return to definitely made the transition 'back to reality' less painful!
Here are some pics from the ‘PARTY’ a few weeks ago...
If you headed back to work today, I hope your day was just as great as mine! :)
It’s hard to put into words how incredible our time in London was.
To start, having “tour guides” (ie. mom, dad, John, Robert and Madi) that were living in London meant that we didn’t just see the main tourist attractions. Yes, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, The Tower of London etc. were incredible….but it was even cooler walking the less travelled streets, hitting up the lesser known markets, shops and restaurants and taking in the concerts of local churches that we wouldn’t have known to visit otherwise! This was my fourth time visiting London, but the first time I’ve left feeling that I’d actually made a dent in really getting to know the city!
Second, it was amazing getting to see where my parents have been “doing life” for the past few months! It’s one thing to hear about their apartment, their fave coffee shops, churches, restaurants, grocery stores, public squares, Laundromat, walking/running routes, or even to see them on FaceTime, but it was SO much better see those places in person! Now when I talk to my parents on the phone, I’ll be able to picture exactly where they are and what they’re doing!
Third, there’s nothing like family time! The older I get, the more I appreciate how precious the time when we’re ALL together is. This break we got to spend A LOT of quality time together- 8 of us stayed in my parents’ 700sqft apartment for 11 days! Talk about a GOOD TIME! ;) When my family is together, you can guarantee there will be laughs, good (often challenging) conversation, a slue of activities on the go and lots of love! Our time in London involved all that and more! I boarded the plane headed for Toronto with blistered feet (we averaged over 20,000 steps a day), a tummy full of Cappuccino and a phone full of new captured memories (mostly thanks to the selfie stick), feeling SO thankful to God for an amazing vacation in London!
Here are WAY TOO MANY photos from the trip...in no particular order:
