Fall has officially arrived in Toronto. Helloooo pumpkin and apple EVERYTHING!! My instagram, pinterest and facebook feeds have been FLOODED with pictures of pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkins (ps. totally digging the white pumpkin trend this year), apple picking and apple pies/crisp....and I'm not ONE bit upset about it :). AHH I love this season!
I know that everyone thinks they make a killer apple crisp....but my mom ACTUALLY makes the BEST APPLE CRISP EVER. I have no clue where her recipe came from (I'm 99.99% sure she didn't make it up)....but it's been a family favourite my entire life, and it's way too good not to share!
What you'll need:
- 8 medium apples, peeled
- 1/2 C butter
- 2 C brown sugar
- 2 C flour
- 3 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
Step 1: Place apples in baking dish
Step 2: Combine ALL other ingredients in a bowl and mix with hands until the texture is moist-ish. It should kind of feel like that moldable sand....all kindergarten teachers will know what I'm talking about! ha ha.
Step 3: Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes
Step 4: ENJOY!!! I dare you not to eat the WHOLE dish in one day!!
Side note: In our family, we eat apple crisp covered in MILK, not with ice cream! SO if you want the TRUE experience.....serve the apple crisp in a bowl and pour milk on top as if you were prepping your cereal. MMmmmm it's sooo good I promise.
FINALLY....find a husband like mine who does the clean up :) Thank-you David for keeping our home so clean!!! xoxo
