WOW! I love thanksgiving!! I love it because it gets such little hype....but it's always an AMAZING weekend! I mean...turkey dinner, family, bike rides, church, cottage, an extra day off of work....how can you get better than that!?
As I sat around or SUPER BIG thanksgiving table this year (27 people around 1 table)....I couldn't help but notice how full the table was- full of people, full of food, full of laughter and conversation, full of love! Our family has changed LOTS over the last few years! We have 2 babies (Xander who's almost 2 and Joshua who is 6 months old), 4 kids under the age of 10, and 2 more babies arriving in January (Matt and Hannah are having a boy, and Kristen and Mike are having a girl)! And while theses changes are exciting for SURE, they seem to highlight the fact that these days of massive family dinners are finite! As our family gets bigger and bigger I know that we won't always be able to fit into one room, or at one table, and that we won't ALWAYS celebrate thanksgiving together. This reality makes me appreciate and cherish our time together so much more.
David and I have SO MUCH to be thankful to God for this year!! Healthy bodies, a home that we love, good friends, exciting future plans, jobs that we enjoy and families that we love and who love us! But THIS year I'm most thankful that for ONE more year I got to spend thanksgiving with my entire extended family!! (Shout out to JOHN who's away in Copenhagen....we missed you LOTS!!! And Kristen and Mike in Alabama)
