We’ve all heard the saying “It takes a village to raise a child”, and I totally believe that’s true. But I don’t think the need for a village ends after the child is raised. Don’t we ALL still need a village in our adult lives?
Last week I had TOO much on my ‘to do’ list. So much that I honestly believed I wouldn’t get it all done. I had to start a new job, write over 400 report cards, create/choreograph items for my school holiday concerts, write a script for the KidsQuest Christmas play for church, take a group of teens up to a youth retreat and celebrate my grandma’s 85th birthday!
On Sunday morning, as I looked around the computer room to see Madeline, Robert, Victoria and David dancing in their pyjamas, helping me to choreograph a timbrel routine for my Christmas Play.....it hit me....I am SO BLESSED. I survived last week because I had an INCREDIBLE village of people supporting me. From David and Robert helping me to choreograph a scarf dance and rhythm stick routine, to Madeline who encouraged me with words of affirmation after a big meltdown, to Rachel who agreed to record an accompaniment of a song I need for my school concert, to Serena who choreographed a timbrel routine for my school holiday concert, to Jenna, Phylicia and Steph who were amazing listeners when I felt overwhelmed at school and offered really great advice, to Brandon, Josh and Jonathan who ended up leading the kids at the youth retreat, and to my mom who reminded me to be still and rely on God ….and the list goes on!
THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU to everyone who helped me!! Thank-you for being my village! And thank-you for INSPIRING me to BE THE VILLAGE to other people!!
